Henry Jacobi Delivers Strong Showing At Lacapelle Marival

Henry Jacobi of JM Racing Honda left a strong impression during an international racing event at Lacapelle Marival in France. He finished third in the first heat, and was in the running for an overall podium finish when mechanical problems saw his chances go up in smoke. Petr Polak was showing a rising line in performance and ended the day as the 8th-placed rider in the MX2 class.

The team decided to get in as many laps as possible during the training sessions to get familiar with the track. Jacobi qualified 12th, but was confident of a better showing during the races. He nearly got the holeshot in the opening heat on his well-tuned JM Racing Honda. He rode a strong race, and crossed the line in third position.

Jacobi was holding steady in third position in the second race as well, until he had to stop to avoid a fallen rider. He lost his position, but was confident of reclaiming some positions. Unfortunately, a mechanical problem forced him to the side, blowing his chances of an overall podium.

Petr Polak is clearly on a rising line of performances. After qualifying 14th, he finished 12th in both heats. He qualified for the superfinal, and finished 16th in this race, the eighth MX2 rider across the line.

Joel Roelants, team coach commented: “We deliberately let the riders ride as much as possible in the morning. We realized that Henry still had some issues with setting a good time during qualifying, but in the heats his pace was really good. With a bit more luck, he could have had his first podium finish of the season. Petr was battling a bit earlier in the day, but improved throughout, and finished the superfinal as the 8th MX2 rider. He is also in good physical shape now, and we can build further from this.”

The team will be in action at the British international at Hawkstone Park next weekend.
