Brent van Doninck takes the win in the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop

Brent van Doninck of JM Racing Honda has won the Dutch MX Season Opener at Lierop. Van Doninck was riding two strong motos and took the overall win with a 1-2 moto score.

After his strong appearance at the international race in Hawkstone Park, Brent was determined to do the same in Lierop. In practice the track was still fast but during the session it became heavier and heavier. Van Doninck did several attempts to put a fast lap together and finally took the pole position with an advantage of more than a second over the second place rider.

In the opening moto he took a good start and came out of the first turn in the leading group. He worked his way up into the lead during the opening lap and despite the pressure from Jorge Prado he kept the lead lap after lap. During the race he started to pull away from the rest of the field and managed to win the race.

Van Doninck had more work to do in the second moto. He took a poor start and was outside of the top ten in the beginning of the race. During the race he passed one rider after another and in the closing stages of the race he had worked himself up into fourth position. He gave everything he had and managed to pass the two riders in front of him and finished the race in second position.

With a 1-2 in the motos he took the overall win in Lierop. The JM Racing Honda team will now travel to Argentina for round 1 of the world championship MXGP.

Yentel Martens of JM Honda Racing has finished on the podium in the beach race of Le Touquet. Martens was riding a strong race and after three demanding hours he managed to cross the finish line in third position.

After a preparation of months, Yentel started the weekend with a good feeling. Because of set backs in the previous Le Touquet races he was determined to set this right!

Yentel found his rhythm straight away. After a poor start he worked his way up inside of the top five in the beginning of the race. He tried to avoid the collisions with the back markers and was riding in control. He had a good battle with fellow Honda riders Lars van Berkel and Cyril Genot. Despite a mistake in the closing stages of the race, Yentel was able to take over third position and finished on the podium.

Yentel Martens: ‘’It was a hard race not having a good start. Fighting till the finish. It feels good to be on that podium! A big thank you to my team and all the people supporting me.’’
